can you collect workman's comp if you are a full time college student?

I cracked my skull when I fell off a loading dock. I am trying to collect workmans comp and was told that I could not because I am a full time college student. I am taking four courses and go to school two days a week. I was working nights to make ends meet.I want to know if I can collect even though I am a student.
