';I want to eventually be a professional liability underwriter,what do I do to achieve this';?

I have a legal background, and currently preparing for the commercial insurance exams i.e INS 23, this I hope should give me an overview of the insurance field. Am I on the right track? Please someone with experience or similar background should advise. Thank you
